James Edward “Jimmy” Goolsby age 81 of Smithville passed away Saturday September 26, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was born March 21, 1945, to his parents the late, Ivory Seay and Agnes Estelle Branham Goolsby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Riley Thompson and Kathy Branham; two greatgrandchildren, Ian Hill and Elias Atnip; one sister, Kathy Robinson; and a nephew. Jimmy was a Baptist, served in the United States Army and did mechanic work in his younger years, then worked at PFG and lastly as a greeter at Walmart. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Goolsby of Smithville; nine children, Sandy Morris of Smithville, Patricia Vantrease of Lebanon, Tommy (Julia) Thompson of Lebanon, Tracy (Tammy) Thompson of Lebanon, Becky Scruggs (Richard Kinslow) of Lebanon, Angela (Tim) Foutch of Smithville, Kim (Darryl) Young of Smithville, Tabatha Bogle of Murfreesboro, and Amanda (Robert) Radke of Smithville; twenty-one grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Debra (Pete) Hickman of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 3:30 Thursday October 1, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Thomason officiating and interment to follow in Conatser Cemetery in Lebanon with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday 11AM until the time of the service at 3:30 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Goolsby family.
