henry Edwin Beckman , age 95 of Loretto, TN passed away September 25, 2026 at home after a brief illness. He was a native of Lawrence County,TN, a United States Navy Veteran, a home builder, and a member of Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Tennessee Teacher’s Association, Senior Citizens Club, Fire chief of Loretto Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral Services will be held at Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 am. Father Steiner will be officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors at graveside. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 with a Rosary at 3:00 pm at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

henry was brought into this world one hot September day in 1931 at his home on Graveyard Hill in Loretto, Tennessee. He is one of fourteen kids born to Conrad and Teresa Beckman. Except for a stint in the U.S. Navy, henry has lived all of his life in Loretto. He and his wife Jewell have seven children.
henry has always had a love for wood and building from it. While very young, if henry was lucky enough to get a nickel he would go to the store and buy a nickels worth of nails. When the merchant would ask him “what size” he would answer “just mix em’ up”.
henry has been called Husband, Daddy, Paw-Paw, Great-grand-paw, A Great Great Grandpa, Builder, Teacher, der Holzbeiter, and the Sage of Loretto. The title that henry thinks fits him most is what someone once called him, a “Genuine Antique Organic Fertilizer Peddler”.
henry once heard that in the “Old Country” folks of no prominence didn’t capitalize their names, so he never capitalizes his.
