Gwen Bland,87, of Dora, passed away September 24, 2026.Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 27, 2026, at New Horizon Chapel. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
To know Gwen was to know what it meant to be deeply loved. She was the heart of our family—a devoted wife, loving mother, precious grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful woman of God. Her faith was at the center of her life, and she had a deep love for her church family. Her home was a place of love, comfort, laughter, and prayer, and her family always knew they could turn to her. Gwen loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother dearly. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and countless precious memories that will continue through generations.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Kenneth Bland, parents Harold and Kathleen Fikes and a brother Larry Wayne Fikes.
She is survived by two daughters Sandy (Chris) McCoy, Tracy Aaron, son Jonathan (Carol) Bland, grandchildren Kellye Sullivan, Kourtney Handley, Kayla Kidd, Hailey Glover and Cole McCoy, along with 12 great grandchildren, brother David (Lynda) Fikes and a host of nieces and nephews.
