Ruth Patricia “Pat” Shackelford of Pulaski, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Ruth was born on January 10, 1930 in Aiken, South Carolina, and was 96 years old.
Pat was a loving mother, nanny/granny, and great grandmother. Pat was a beloved friend, faithful Christian, and longtime member of East Hill Church of Christ, where she was the oldest living member. She especially loved Bible study and spending time with her church family. Pat enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves, playing cards, sewing, visiting with friends, and keeping up with current events and politics. She also made legendary peanut brittle. Pat was over accounts payable at Shackelford Dental for 46 years, where she recently retired spring of this year. Pat’s faith, friendship, and loving spirit touched many lives. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery.
Ruth was preceded in death by, her husband, Floyd Lee Shackelford Jr., parents, William and Ruth Doggette, and brothers, Bill Doggette, and George Doggette.
She is survived by,
Son, Sam (Teri) Shackelford of Lawrenceburg, TN
Daughter, Linda (Harry) Murphy of Nashville, TN
Grandchildren, Brady Murphy, Sidney Shackelford (Tom) Guererri, and Annie Shackelford
Great-grandson, Jake Guererri
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
