John William Darty, age 79, a lifelong resident of Franklin County, passed away on September 22, 2026.
He was born on May 15, 1947, to the late John B. and Hazel Darty.
John was a Veteran of the United States Army and Nation Guard. He devoted over 20 years of loyal service as a Supervisor for TVA. He had a passion for cutting grass, always having a beautiful yard which he enjoyed. When he wasn’t cutting grass, he would help his many friends put corn out for the deer, so he’d have good hunting spots. On Saturdays you could find him watching Alabama “Roll Tide” football, cheering and clapping. John was Master of his grill and the children and grandchildren loved it.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Mitchell Darty; son, Lemar Darty; daughter, Tina Bolton; grandson, Tyrel Bolton (Katie); great-grandchildren, Jayden Bolton, Alex Bolton, Logan Bolton, Ronan Bolton; brother Gene “Dink” Ray Darty; niece, Sue Darty and a host of loving cousins and numerous beloved friends that will miss John’s energetic smile and love for them all.
