Mr. Joseph “Joe” Leak of Arab, Alabama, passed away Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026, at Diversicare of Arab. He was 74. Born in Marshall County, Alabama, on October 27, 1951, Joe was the son of Houston Smith Leak and Edith Mae Owns Leak. He worked in construction as a drywall specialist and was a member of Gods Way Ministries in Arab.
Joe cherished spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always giving them his undivided attention. He was a devoted Alabama football fan. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting and horseback riding.
Joe leaves behind cherished memories with his mother, Edith Mae Leak; sons, Joe David Leak (Ceila) and Buddy W. Blakely (Karon); daughter, Tammy A. Cruz; sister, Regina Johnson (Ricky); brother, Phillip Ricky Leak; daughter-in-law, Amanda Harvell Leak; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Houston Smith Leak; his sister, Rachel Phillips; and his brother-in-law, Troy Phillips.
Joe’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, with Brother Gary Harvell officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will follow at Brashiers Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Blakely, Joe David Leak, Ales Salas, Joseph Leak, Cayden Jorden, Calab Leak, Colby Leak, Jamie Henson and Jiovanni Salas. Honorary pallbearers are Taylor Blakely, Hunter Blakely, Annaka Wilkins, Courtney Jarrell and Mary Ann White. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
