Maurie L. Reaves completed his earthly journey on September 19, 2026 at RMC Anniston. He was 96. He was a lifelong Oxford resident.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Mary Sue Reaves, his son John Eric Reaves and his parents, Sherman Miller and Lillian A. Wright Reaves, his Brother James, Harold Ellis Reaves and 3 infant brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Jackson (Jerry), Joy Segrest ( Fiancé-Rodney), Daughter in love Karen Reaves Owen (Jerry Paul) and Son Michael L Reaves. Grandchildren : Jacob Wesley Jackson (Candice), Lyndsey Wright (Gary), John Russell Reaves, Chosen Grandson Connor Ewing Great grandchildren: Mackinzy Champion (Brantley), Jackson Bonds, Anna Dean Jackson, Sarah Grace Jackson, Harlie Sue Wright, Eliza Wright. Great Great Grandson: Liam Champion Several Nieces and Nephews and other family members.
He served in the US Army and later the reserves as well as a combined total of Civilian service of 35 years through Redstone Arsenal and Anniston Army Depot.
He was an avid Alabama and Braves fan as well as enjoyed most outdoor sports in his younger days. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the family get togethers and also helping the grands to learn new things. He could fix most anything and taught them how to use a wrench. In more recent days he enjoyed the company of his friends at the Oxford Senior Citizen and he described them as his second family.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Oxford Memorial Gardens staring at 2:30 pm.
