Diane Evans age 78 of the Short Mountain Community of Cannon County, passed away at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro on Monday night September 21, 2026. She was born April 12, 1948, to her parents the late Grady Austin and Emma Jean Jones Neal. In addition, to her parents she was preceded in death by sister, Donna Kay Knowles; brother, Kenneth Neal. Mrs. Diane was a member of Smithville Church of God and worked at Westing House. Funeral services will be 3 PM Thursday September 24, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bryan Jones and Bro. Chris Moore officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 10 AM until the time of the service at 3 PM. She is survived by husband, Danny Evans of Woodbury; son, Nathan (Allyson) Evans of Cookeville; grandsons, Tucker and Tate Evans; siblings, Nina Lawrence of Smithville, David (Gloria) Neal of McMinnville, Betty Byford of McMinnville, Jimmy (Carol) Neal of Smithville, and Danny Neal of Smithville; brother-in-law, Donald Knowles of Smithville; sister-in-law, Jeanette Neal of Smithville; nieces and nephews also survive.
