Kay Palmore Daughrity, age 83, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at NHC Oakwood.
Kay was born July 19, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Jasper and Jennie Marshall Palmore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Carol Purdom, brother-in-law Billy Purdom, brother Bubba Palmore, and nephew Jimmy Purdom.
She is survived by her son, James (Jan) Daughrity and daughter Jennifer Harris, both of Lewisburg; one grandson, Colin Harris; sister Nancy Rainey of Brentwood; niece Cathy Purdom and nephew Ken Rainey.
Ms. Daughrity taught in the Marshall County School system for 37 years. In her final position with the school system, she was over the gifted program and thoroughly enjoyed working with those students. She was an accomplished pianist and was trained as a professional accompanist. Her musical talent was shared with the community through her involvement with the Marshall County Community Theater, where her contributions were deeply appreciated. She loved visiting New York City and immersing herself in the world of musicals. Her other hobbies included going for walks, reading, and finding joy in the simple, peaceful moments of everyday life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Marshall County Community Theater, P O BOX 1771, Lewisburg, TN 37091 or to the ALS Foundation at www.als.org.
Visitation with the family will be held at London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, TN, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with cremation to follow.
