Funeral services for Bro. Manon Layton “M. L. ” Irvin, Jr., age 72 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. David Cornett, Bro. John Kiker, and Bro. James Irvin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery.
Bro. Irvin was born in Talladega, obtained his higher education from Clay County High School and Jacksonville State University. He also served over 8 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an MP and was honorably discharged with the rank Sergeant. He later worked several years in law enforcement, Homeland Security, Assistant Director of EMA and was known to be a skilled carpenter. The Lord led him into the ministry at a young age and he served well over 40 years planting and serving in many churches across Alabama, Bro. Irvin truly had a heart for Evangelism and mission work. Outside of his many responsibilities, he enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
Mr. Irvin is survived by two sons and very special daughters in law: Jim (Connie) Irvin of Ashland and Andrew (Andrea) Irvin, of Lincoln, one sister; Frieda Hassan of Montgomery; one brother; Darell Irvin of Ragland; 8 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Bro. Irvin is preceded in death by his parents; Manon Layton Irvin, Sr. and Ruthie Mae Mitchell Irvin; his wife Janice Marie Vosburg Irvin, and one sister; Donna Ingram.
Active pallbearers for Mr. Irvin will be Daniel Ingram, Timothy Irvin, Joshua Irvin, Joseph Glaser, Eric Canseco, Logan Canseco, Alberto Conseco, and Chris Lucas
Mr. Irvin’s visitation will be held at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on September 24, 2026 from 5:30-8:00 P.M. and until service time on Friday.
