Ms. Jackie Elaine Mills Maddux, 69, of Arab, Alabama, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2026, surrounded by her family & friends at Diversicare of Arab. Born March 19, 1957, in Arab, Alabama, she is the daughter of Jack Wright Mills and Mildred “Pauline” Parkerson Mills. Jackie graduated from Arab High School in 1976 and later earned additional college credits.
Jackie was a member of the 12th Avenue Church of God. She had a special gift for poetry and used that gift to glorify God. Through her poems, she shared her faith within the church and with anyone willing to listen, always looking for an opportunity to share the Gospel and encourage others. She loved people and had a gift for turning strangers into friends. Jackie treasured her family and loved being called GG by her grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her son, Thomas Maddux; grandsons Dean and Ridge Maddux; sister, Paula Lemons (Lynn); nephews and a niece.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack Mills and Pauline Parkerson Mills; brother, Wayne Mills; sister Shiela Walker and grandmother, Ruby Neel.
Services for Jackie will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation and a time to remember and honor Jackie’s life will be from 12:00 until 1:45p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Michael King, will begin at 2:00p.m. Honored to serve as pallbearers and escorting Jackie to her final resting place in Brookwood Cemetery are Lynn Lemons, Chad Richards, Troy Richards, Jack Mills, Cade Richards and Daniel Dyess. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel are assisting the family with arrangements.
