We ask that you remember the family of Terry Braxton Dempsey, age 80 of Belgreen, who passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at North Alabama Medical Center after a brief illness.
Terry was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, papaw, and great grandpaw to his family.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren were a joy to him and he loved every second he spent with them. He dearly loved the Lord and was a member of Mountain Home Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder.
He retired from TVA after working many years as a boilermaker. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle farming, bee keeping, raising a garden, and Alabama football. His latest and greatest hobby was spending time with his great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Braxton and Katherine Dempsey and son, Terry Lee Dempsey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sharline Hatton Dempsey; daughter, Karen Jones; grandchildren; Alex Jones, Braxton Dempsey, Abby Grissom and husband Clay, Katie Cantrell and husband Collier, Gracie Dempsey and boyfriend Karson Hyde, Emma Dempsey and fiancée Chandler Dyas, great grandchildren Claira, Cohen, and Campbell Cantrell, brother Perry Dempsey, and many other family members and friends.
The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Collier Cantrell, Emma Dempsey and other family members will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Mtn Home Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Alex Jones, Braxton Dempsey, Collier Cantrell, Chandler Dyas, Karson Hyde, and Clay Grissom.
