Blake was born to Norman and Grace Baughman of Piedmont, West Virginia. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1963 and began his distinguished legal career in Huntington, West Virginia, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1971, Blake transferred to Huntsville, Alabama, where he continued his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1993 as Chief Counsel.

Blake was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Jean; his two sons, Blake Baughman and Scott Baughman (Tracey); three granddaughters, Prema, Piper, and Brooke Ireland; and one grandson, Connor Ireland.

A lifelong lover of animals, Blake generously volunteered with the Huntsville Humane Society for many years. His compassion and dedication to helping animals reflected the kindness he shared with those around him.

Blake will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In accordance with Blake’s wishes, no funeral or memorial services will be held.
