Jennie Mae Haynes Braddock, age 91, departed this earthly life on Thursday evening, September 17, 2026, at Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Mississippi.
Funeral services honoring the life of Ms. Jennie Mae will be held at 4 PM Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 2 PM until the time of service. A graveside service will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner, Mississippi, and all family and friends are invited to attend.
Born April 14, 1935, in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, Ms. Jennie Mae was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Flora Ann Sheppard Haynes. She spent her early childhood in Blue Mountain before moving to Falkner at the age of eight following the death of her mother. There she received her education from falkner school.
A woman who understood the value of hard work, Ms. Jennie Mae spent much of her life employed in the manufacturing industry, working for both Blue Bell and Benchcraft before her retirement. She also worked at Coleman’s BBQ. While she took great pride in her work outside the home, her most treasured role was being a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and provider for her family.
A Christian and a lady of remarkable strength, Ms. Jennie Mae lived a full life and found happiness in its simple pleasures. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, riding four-wheelers, and passing the time swinging on the porch. She also loved dancing at the VFW—although, to Jennie Mae, it was always simply known as “the Club.”
Ms. Jennie Mae was a wonderful “Granny” whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Time spent with those she loved was precious to her, and the memories they created together will forever remain among her family’s greatest treasures.
Strong-willed, direct, and fiercely independent, Ms. Jennie Mae always knew what she believed and was never afraid to let others know exactly what she thought. She lived life on her own terms, loved her family wholeheartedly, and faced each season with determination and strength. Although her unmistakable presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of resilience, independence, and devotion to family will never be forgotten.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Braddock (Kim); five grandchildren, Justin Braddock (Brittany), Jessica Childs (Cole), Eli Braddock (Ashley), Luke Braddock (Crystal), and Jasmine Strong (Marquies); thirteen great-grandchildren, Khloe Braddock, Asa Childs, Layla Quinn Childs, McKayla Braddock, Graylon Braddock, Tapp Braddock, Jaxson Braddock, Huse Braddock, Garner Braddock, Kohen Braddock, McKinley Childs, Gaines Braddock, and Ryo Strong and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Braddock. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Jennie Mae was preceded in death by three sons, Sandy Braddock, Joel Braddock, and Fred Braddock; one daughter, Ann Vetrecin; three brothers; and two sisters.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Justin Braddock, Eli Braddock, Luke Braddock, Cole Childs, Jackie Mauney, and Marquies Strong. Her great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation Center, especially Keisha, for the kindness and compassionate care shown to Ms. Jennie Mae. They also extend special thanks to Tracey Gaillard, Jennie Mae’s home health aid and friend, for the loving care, attention, and friendship she provided throughout the last several years.
