Ms. Betty L. Poff, age 89, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026. Born in Haysi, VA, she was the daughter of the late Alvie and Ethel Puckett. She is also preceded in death by her former husband, Don Poff; sister, Gayle (Gary) Vanover; and brother, Wayne (Teresa) Puckett.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Anthony (Fredia) Poff, Judy (Gary) Burns, and Mark (Connie) Poff; grandchildren, Brandon (Sue) Burns, Allison (Ben) Rose, Chasity Brady, Jennifer Cunningham, and Dillon Poff; great-grandchildren, Bryant Cole, Byron Cole, Connor Burns, Lance Brady, Addison Brady, Ava Fluty, Scarlett Fluty, Charli Cunningham and Lukas Cunningham; and her brother, Kelly (Sarah) Puckett.
Betty was a devoted Christian and a founding member of Corner Stone Free Will Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as church clerk for many years. Her faith was the center of her life and one of her most treasured experiences was traveling to Israel, where she had the opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River.
Betty was also a gifted seamstress. She made her own clothes as well as garments for family and friends, sharing her talent with others. Betty cherished her children and her family. She found great joy in spending time with those she loved and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation with the family will be held at Corner Stone Free Will Baptist Church, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 PM. Glenn Poston and Stanley Outlaw are to be officiating. Another service will take place in Big Stone Gap, VA at a later date with burial at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
