Steve George, age 69 of Estill Fork, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Huntland on June 6, 1957, to the late Daylon and Vester (McClure) George. In his younger years, Steve had worked at Sunbeam in Huntsville, Alabama as well as Breddo Company when he lived up north. He was known by many for being the owner and operator of Steve 66 on Main Street in Huntland. Steve loved being outdoors. As a youngster, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, and more recently being in the mountains, especially ATV riding, sitting on the front porch swing watching storms, and playing cards were his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide as well as the Tennessee Titans. When he was able to travel, Amish Country, the beach, and flea markets were his preferred destinations. A Christian, before his health failed, Steve had attended Donalson Grove and Oaks Grove Baptist Churches. He will be remembered for his kind nature, always willing to lend a hand, as well as the sense of humor he shared through being a storyteller and jokester. But most of all, his beloved family will remember a loving father whose world revolved around them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl George and Calvin George; and father-in-law, George Schultz. Steve is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Tracy O’Connor George; children, Scott George, Amber George (Daniel Long), Brittany George, and Leigha George; grandchildren, Jayce, Kurtis, Lily Mae, Miya, Daylon, Brooke, and Aiden; great-grandchildren, Koda and Presley; brother, Allen George; sister-in-law, Carolyn George; mother-in-law, Margaret Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 18, 2026, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at George Family Cemetery.
