Mrs. Monk passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, with her family at her side. She was born October 27, 1943, in Morgan County, to Glenn Oakley Maples and Edith Odessa Parker Maples.

Kathryn was a Morgan County High School graduate of the Class of 1961. She was employed by Lon’s Foods, in Hartselle, as a Manager, prior to her retirement. As a member of the New Center Baptist Church for many years, Kathryn loved her Church family, and enjoyed working in the Nursey with the babies and toddlers. She enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music. The Gaithers were among her favorites.

Kathryn was a sports fan and loved watching the Braves and Alabama football. Her favorite past-times were putting together jigsaw puzzles and watching hummingbirds as they fed at her feeders. Most of all, she loved her family and the Lord. She will most certainly be missed.

Preceding her in death were her husband- Frank Monk, who passed away in 2025, her parents, and her siblings- Glendell, Jimmy, Frankie, J.T. and Larry, and her fur baby- “Lulu” that Kathryn missed after her passing just recently.
