Pamela Deann Bowling Rhody, 64, of St. Johns, Florida, formerly of Smithville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, after a courageous journey with cancer.
Pamela was a woman of strength, warmth, and unmistakable spirit. A graduate of the Class of 1981, she went on to attend and graduate from Middle Tennessee State University. She built a successful 30-year career as a court reporter, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike through her dedication and professionalism. She also owned and taught at her own aerobics studio, reflecting her vibrant energy, love of people, and ability to inspire those around her.
She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments—time spent at the beach, the beauty of a sunset over the water, and the peace of the ocean. She had a profound love of travel and embraced life with curiosity, warmth, and a generous spirit. She was known for her sharp wit, her kind heart, and her ability to make others feel seen and cared for.
Above all, Pamela cherished her family, including her beloved dogs, Trudy and Edie, who brought her constant comfort and companionship.
She is survived by her beloved son, Weston Chase Rhody, 34, of Jacksonville; her cherished daughter, Courtney Lauren Rhody Scott, 37, of St. Johns, Florida; her treasured grandchildren, Addiston Harper Scott, 13, Sterling Quinn Scott, 6, and Harrison Slade Scott, 4, all of St. Johns, Florida. She is also survived by her loving partner, Michael Wiegner, who was a constant companion, and her adored brother, Milton Bailey Bowling, of Nashville. She is also remembered by a circle of loving family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harrison Bowling, Jr. and Mildred Ann Frogge Bowling.
Pamela’s life was a reminder to love deeply, to hold close what matters most, and to find beauty even in life’s hardest moments. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. In the end, Pamela found peace in the same way she lived—with love in her heart and the ocean never far from her soul.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Friday September 18, 2026 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with family and friends speaking. She will be entombed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens mausoleum. Visitation will be on Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and Friday 11 AM util the time of the service at 1 PM.
