Robert Arthur Webster, Jr., 84, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9. A lifelong resident of Hobbs Island, Robert graduated from New Hope High School in 1960. He attended UAH and worked as an engineer at Mallory for several years, where he held multiple patents. He later completed his career with APAC.
Robert was the eldest child of the late Robert Arthur Webster, Sr. and Helen Marie Dunn. He will be remembered as a man of extraordinary strength, quiet sacrifice, unwavering work ethic, and a heart that loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred Webster; sister, Mary Lewis and his nephew, Jason Webster.
Nothing brought Robert more joy than seeing his family walk through the door. He cherished Sunday dinners and Alabama football games, where he delighted in spoiling everyone with love and Mountain Dew. He spent countless days caring for and playing with his three granddaughters, lovingly calling them “Precious Darlin,” “Darlin Angel,” and “Precious Angel.”
Survivors include his son, Robert Arthur “Bobby” Webster III (Kim); his daughter, Regina Newman (Eric); his sister, Faye Bachus (Johnny); and his grandchildren, Samantha Higgins (Garrett), Emily Newman, Jenna Webster and his great grandson Patrick Higgins. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at New Hope Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Robert’s honor to the Activities Department at South Hampton Nursing Home.
