Thomas Argene Sledge, 47, of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away quietly at home on September 11, 2026. He was born February 4, 1979, in Sheffield Alabama, to Linda Edwards Sledge and Douglas Argene Sledge. He had valiantly fought cancer for several years and lost the fight on September 11, 2026.
Thomas graduated from Sheffield High School in 1997. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2006.
Thomas was employed as a Project Planning Manager with Marriott Hotels in Florence, Alabama prior to his illness. He was a member of Sheffield Methodist Church in Sheffield. He was an avid musician and keyboard player, working in the Contemporary Service of the Sheffield Methodist Church.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Melissa Dial Sledge; his children, Harper Elizabeth Sledge and Thorne Thomas Sledge; his stepson, Samuel Asa Stamps; his parents, Linda Edwards Sledge and Douglas Argene Sledge (wife Rebecca Mayes Sledge); his brother, Stephen Douglas Sledge (wife Melissa Bibbee Sledge); his sister, Jennifer Elizabeth Sledge (husband Michael Kantor); the mother of his two children, Deanna Jaynes Sledge; his mother-in-law, Lisa Dial Dickerson; and nieces and nephew, Sydney Sledge, Savannah Sledge, Claire Sledge, and Blake Sledge.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sheffield Methodist Church in Sheffield, Alabama with Bart Bowlin officiating. There will be a reception at the church following the memorial service. Preparation is being handled by Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, Alabama.
