Eldonna Marie McBroom, age 78, of Natural Bridge passed away Tuesday September 7, 2026, at Hendrix Health and Rehab. She was born February 16, 1948 to Walter Eldon and Esther Jeanne Ragan. Eldonna had a lifelong love for sewing and used her talents to create beautiful costumes for an Elvis impersonator. She also worked in upholstery and restored seats, headliners, and other interiors for private planes and boats. Her creativity and skill could also be seen in the beautiful wedding gowns and altered garments she made for men, women, and even pets. An animal lover at heart, she especially adored dogs, cats, flying squirrels, a hedgehog and a racoon, and even an alligator. Eldonna was also a wonderful cook who loved feeding others and bringing people together around a good meal. Though she never had children of her own, she had a nurturing spirit and welcomed those around her with kindness, generosity, and love. Eldonna was a loving and devoted woman who found great joy in praising God through song, often singing even in her final days. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her beloved husband “Big O,” and treasured the time they spent together. She will be remembered for her deep faith, creative spirit, generous heart, love for animals, and, most of all, the devotion she showed to the people she loved. Visitation will be Sunday September 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs where the Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Brother Steve Wakefield will officiate. Eldonna is survived by her brother, Garry (Rebecca) Ragan; sister, Shelly (Richard) Price; nieces, Rebecca (Lawson) Wilder, Wendy (Earl) Lemons, Erin Ragan, Crystal Bonner, Patty Kurth, and Kay Schuler; and nephews, William Price, Robert Droessler, and Steven Grimes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Eldon and Esther Jeanne Trail Ragan; sisters, Coral Carlene Grimes and Judy Mae Rogers; husband, Willard Otis McBroom; and nephews, Christopher Grimes and Daniel Droessler.
