James Edward “Winkle” Mahan, 82, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, at The Meadows in Fulton, Mississippi. He was born in Vina, AL, to Eldridge and Ruble Pounders Mahan. He was a truck driver and worked for Sunshine Mills for over 30 years. He attended Walker Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 2 P.M. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS, with Bro. David Holcomb officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS, will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mahan; two sons, Tim Mahan and Jeff Mahan (Candace); four grandchildren, Elissa Mahan, Emma Mahan, Jay Mahan and James Timothy “J.T.” Mahan Jr.; and one sister, Jean Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doug Mahan.
Pallbearers will be Randy Allen, Jay Mahan, Danny Works, Mike Rich, Greg Allen and Brandon Harbin.
