Darrell Wade Murphy was born in Waynesboro, TN to the union of his parents the late Mr. George William “Little Man” Murphy and Mrs. Ima Elvesta Gillis Murphy. He being a native of Wayne County, was raised in Collinwood until he met and married his wife Mrs. Debra Coppes Murphy on June 26, 1982. The two would make Waynesboro their home and together raise their daughter.
During his occupational years, he worked for Maury Ohio Manufacturing in Lawrenceburg for 20 years until their closing at which time he chose his new vocation of Correctional Officer for Tennessee Department of Corrections in Cliton for which he would remain for over 21 years and eventually retire.
In his leisure he loved listening to music and watching his favorite football team the “Tennessee Vols” play anytime the took the field with his wife and their canine companions “Sally” and “Lil Redd”. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, lunches with his friends and visits with his daughter and her fur babies.
Mr. Darrell Wade Murphy passed from this life at his home in Waynesboro, TN on September 10, 2026 making his stay on this earth some 65 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Debra Kay Coppes Murphy of Waynesboro, TN; daughter Melody Ann Murphy (Douglas Lee Toney) of Columbia, TN; as well as many other family members, friends and dear loved ones.
