Oliver Eugene “Pete” Norton, age 90, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away Monday, September 7th, 2026 at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN. Pete was born on October 3rd, 1935 to the late Edward Lyman Norton and Edith Irene Foust Norton in Leoma, TN. Pete grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where he graduated at Cincinnati public schools. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Cold War, serving in the 11th Airborne Division in Germany. After his discharge, he would marry Victoria Pieper in 1958 and have three children: Dawn, Marc, and Matthew. Pete would then go on to proudly serve his community as a police officer and later a Sergeant for Fairfield City Police Department in Ohio. After his retirement from law enforcement, he would move to Lawrenceburg, TN where he worked for Steve Williams Ford Dealership as Maintenance Engineer. He and Victoria were members at Deerfield Baptist Church for many years. After his wife’s earthly departure, he became an active member at Fuller’s Chapel in Leoma, which was his childhood church. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, hiking, working outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Victoria Norton, and his brother, Charles Norton.
He is survived by his children, Dawn Reed (Kent), Marc Norton, and Matthew Norton; grandchildren, Samuel, Kristen, and Emma; great grandchildren, Grace and Chance; sister, Nelda Sulek Herms, and his beloved canine companion, Mo.
A celebration of life will be held at Fuller’s Chapel, 68 Fuller’s Chapel Rd., Leoma, TN 38468, and will be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
