SHEFFIELD — Get ready to dance, laugh, and celebrate individuality when the Ritz Theatre presents the beloved musical comedy Hairspray September 24–27, 2026, in Sheffield, Alabama.
Set in 1960s Baltimore, Hairspray follows the spirited and determined Tracy Turnblad, a teenager whose dream is to dance on the popular Corny Collins television show. When Tracy discovers that the show is segregated, she uses her newfound celebrity to stand up for integration, challenge the status quo, and prove that everyone deserves their chance to shine.
Packed with infectious music, unforgettable characters, choreographed dance numbers, and a powerful message about acceptance and equality, Hairspray is a celebration of the idea that you can make a difference simply by being willing to stand up for what is right and be unapologetically yourself.

Hairspray is directed by a young and talented group with Ladarius Prince – Director, Blythe Carey – Assistant Director, and Ethan Franks – Musical Director. “This cast is a must see, must hear! They are incredible and have worked so hard to present this show. It’s been a joy to work with Ladarius to bring this show back to the Shoals. ” said Ethan Franks, Musical Director. Ladarius Prince has worked with and in several previous productions at the RITZ but Hairspray is his directorial debut.
