Eva Louise Greenhill Moon, after a lengthy earthly pilgrimage, crossed over to the other side on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, from NMMC-Tupelo. Born January 17, 1932 in Amory, MS, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Greenhill and Lola Belle Taylor Greenhill. She graduated from Amory High School. In 1951, she and her late husband, Billy Ray Moon moved to Zion, Illinois for employment opportunities. Residents of the Zion area for 24-plus years, they enjoyed being there with all the amenities of the greater Chicago area but returned to Amory in 1976 where she lived out the remainder of her years. A Nurse’s Assistant by profession, Eva worked many years for Beverly Nursing Home in Amory as well as Zion-Benton Hospital while living in Illinois. She was a splendid housewife and cook and loved growing and canning vegetables and fruits from her garden, especially enjoying visiting with her family over home-cooked meals she prepared. Eva had three specialties from her kitchen: meat loaf, cranberry meatballs and a mean Fudge/Chocolate cake and chocolate pie. She loved tending to her animals, esp. her dogs, being outdoors and fishing, working word search puzzles and old Western movies.

Per her request, there will be no formal services. The family will have a private service around Lake Michigan when her remains will be scattered at a future date. For those who wish, condolences may be posted on Eva’s memorial page at hollandfuneraldirectors.com.

Ms. Moon is survived by her son and caregiver, Jeff Moon, (wife, Janice) of Tupelo; her grandchildren, Rebecca Domerchie Emierman (Herb), Sarah and Jessica Watkins and Abigail Barber; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Domerchie, Gavin Eimerman, Amiya Diaz, Daisy Diaz and D.J. Barber. She is survived by an older sister, Dorothy Poore (Hubert) who, at 95, resides in the Meadows at Fulton. She was preceded in death by Billy Ray, her daughter, Paula Watkins, and her siblings, Becky Watson (Vernon), Sonny Greenhill (Jean) and Doug Greenhill (Patsy).
