Jeffery Lee McPherson, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2026, following his courageous battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Jeff was a 1983 graduate of Fort Payne High School and enjoyed a long and successful career with Ladd Engineering. But the measure of Jeff’s life was never found in his career or accomplishments—it was found in the lives he touched.
To know Jeff was to love Jeff.
Jeff was a man with a servant’s heart. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need. Whether it was helping with a church project, serving on a mission trip, helping a neighbor, or simply being there when someone needed him, Jeff never hesitated to help. He gave his time, his talents, and his heart freely.
Jeff had a special love for children. He enjoyed working with children and had a genuine gift for connecting with them. He believed in helping children, encouraging them, and making a difference in their lives. His love for children was simply another reflection of the generous and caring heart that defined him.
Jeff’s greatest legacy, however, will be the love he gave to his family and friends. Even as Alzheimer’s slowly took away so many of the things that made everyday life possible, it could never take away the love that surrounded him or the love he had given so freely throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen; his daughter, Jacy (Trevor) Sauls; his stepsons, Ryan (Candace) Lott and Alex (Chelsea) Lott; his sister, Sharon (Coy) Bailey; his brothers, Terry (Natalie) McPherson and LaDon (Amber) McPherson; his precious grandchildren, Crew Sauls, Wesley Lott, Adley Lott, Jacob Lott, Corabeth Lott, and Anna Laura Lott; his beloved caregiver and friend, Sarah Kendall; and many other family members and special friends who were blessed to know and love him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lee McPherson and Bobbie Jean Gilliam McPherson, and his brother, Eddie McPherson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Fischer Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, September 11, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jeff’s memory to DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center or Kids to Love, organizations whose work reflects Jeff’s deep love for children and his desire to help them have brighter futures.
