Anthony Nelson Bolton was born on April 14, 1943, in Jackson, TN to C.H. Cleon Hawthorn (Slim) and Lucile (Cile) Spight Bolton of Henderson, TN. The majority of his life was lived in Henderson, TN near his family, his friends and on the family land that he loved. Anthony was a “people person.” He never met a stranger. He had many friends that he maintained close relationships with throughout his lifetime.
Anthony was a 1961 graduate of Chester County High School. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church of Pinson, TN. Throughout his years of attending Grace Baptist Church, Anthony served in various roles, such as: Church Treasurer, Adult Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the Building Committee and Budget Committee.
Anthony loved his Lord, his family, Chester County, and the farm where he grew up. He loved the game of golf, and he loved to play bluegrass music. He enjoyed all kinds of music, but he loved playing the resonator guitar (dobro) best. He was a member of the Jackson Plectral Society. He was a Mason.
Anthony was in the car business for 25 years, first at Bolton Ford, then at Bolton-Lofton Chevrolet, and later at Bolton Trade Company. From 1969 to 1972, he worked in Savannah for the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency as a wildlife officer. He was County Mayor of Chester County from 1986 until 1998. While County Mayor, he served on many boards as a representative from Chester County. In 1998, he received his real-estate license and spent 15 years as a real-estate agent for Re-Max Realtors and Tri-County Realtors in Henderson. Anthony also served in the military in the Army and National Guard from 1960 through 1963.
Anthony is survived by his three children: Marjorie “Marjie” Bolton Pjontek (Dave) of Henderson, TN, Rebecca “Becky” Bolton Cox (George) of Henderson, TN (daughters of Elaine Clayton Bolton) and Barry “Bear” Bolton (Joy) of Henderson, TN (son of Sybil Morrison Bolton). He is also survived by his two stepchildren: Todd Payne (Michelle) of Cordova, TN and Jennifer Woodall (John) of Houston, TX (son and daughter of Jeanette Chappell Bolton). He is survived by his four grandchildren: Allie Mei Pjontek Thoms (Chase) of Albany, NY, Luke Anthony Pjontek (Kaitlyn) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Steven Pjontek of Murfreesboro, TN, Zane Bolton of Memphis, TN and four step grandchildren: Mary Grace Payne Mansfield (David), Ethan Payne, Jameson Woodall and Jesse Woodall. He is survived by his brother, Michael Bolton (Julia) of Henderson, TN and one great grandson, Hudson Thoms and a great granddaughter Scarlett Mansfield. He is also survived by his special friend, Bonnie Cox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Chappell Bolton, his parents C.H. Cleon Hawthorn “Slim” Bolton and Lucile “Cile” Spight Bolton, his three sisters Joyce Bolton Bryant (Jim), Jeannine Bolton Donahue (Ken), and Shirley Bolton Pratt Cox (Mel Pratt & Jere Cox).
