Family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 12 until 1 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Andy Frazier will officiate.

Ms. Sandlin was a member of Jasper’s First Baptist Church for 65 years. She attended Walker College, University of Alabama and UAB. Marie was a retired school teacher of 27 years from the Jasper Board of Education. She enjoyed doing needle work, flower gardening and helping children read.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Gene Sandlin; parents, Cecil and Hazel Cole Bland; siblings, Ruby Phillips, James Bland, Joseph Bland, Charles Bland, Cecil Bland and Carolyn Speigle.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla Marie Sandlin Hanks (Frankie); grandson, Joshua Kent Thompson (Whitney); great grandson, Jackson Hanks; sister, Emogene Faye Cantley (Jim) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Elliott’s Sunday School Class at Jasper’s First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Jasper’s First Baptist Church.
