Rudolph Hatcher passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born November 24, 1932, in Tippah County, Mississippi, to Clifford and Mary Lou Smith Hatcher. He lived the majority of his life in Pontotoc County. He was a graduate of Pontotoc High School, a member of First Baptist Church and the Renegades Sunday School Class, and served two years in the United States Navy. He married June Warren on December 14, 1953, and they were together for 69 years before her passing in February of 2023. He taught data processing at Itawamba Junior College, Tupelo Campus for 30+ years before retiring in December of 1994. He enjoyed going to his farm and tending his cows, reading, enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and watching Alabama and Ole Miss football.
He is survived by his sons Lee (Wanda) Hatcher and Scott (Tonya) Hatcher both of Pontotoc, Mississippi; his grandchildren: Luke (Rachel) Hatcher, Margaret (Jeb) Todd both of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Jacob Hatcher of Birmingham, Alabama, and Marlee (Luke) Miller of Collinsville, Mississippi; two great grandsons Lawson Todd and Banks Miller and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Hatcher; his parents; his 3 siblings, H. H. Hatcher, Kenneth Hatcher and Betty Kane.
Services will be Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church-Pontotoc with Dr. Ken Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. September 9, 2026, and Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10:00 to service time all at First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Greg Laprade, Neal Anderson, Mitch Montgomery, Phillip Cox, Stacy Lewis, and Brett Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Renegades Sunday School Class and Walter Chittom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church-Pontotoc Building Renovation Fund, 31 W Washington Street, Pontotoc, Mississippi 38863.
