Rebecca Ann Hensley, age 76, passed away Friday September 4, 2026 at Parkridge Hospital in Chattanooga from a short illness. Rebecca was a Van Buren County native born on July 8, 1950 to the late Arthur and Gertrude Dodson Simmons. She was a 1968 graduate of Van Buren County High School. Rebecca spent her later years quilting, sewing and reading the day away. She was a member of Midway Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, husband; Richard Marson Hensley, brothers; Clyde, Ernest, Earl, Randall and Douglas Simmons and her sister Ova Lee Peeler.
Rebecca is survived by her loving family, son; Brian (Wendy) Hensley, daughter: Shanon (Terry) Howard, brother; J.D. (Jennie) Simmons, sister; Roberta Wood, grandchildren; Alli Howard and Kaylee Hensley, brothers-in-law; Leroy (Bonnie) Hensley, Jim (Dorothy) Hensley, sisters-in-law; Maxine (Marvin) Lewis, Mary Ellen McBroom, special friends; Shirley Dodson and Bertha Shockley. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 8, 2026 at 1:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Graveyard Ridge Cemetery. Visitation times are Monday 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Tuesday 10:00am till time of service at 1:00pm.
