Deborah Ellen “Deb” Nielsen, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following a tragic automobile accident in Pontotoc.
Per Deb’s wishes, she will be cremated. Her family lovingly asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Deb was born on May 9, 1953, in New Albany to the late W.T. and Sybil Stanford Adair. She received her education through the New Albany City School System and was a Baptist.
Deb was truly one of a kind. She was loved by everyone who knew her and had a way of leaving a lasting impression on those around her. She was a dedicated, hardworking woman who was never afraid to roll up her sleeves and get the job done. There was very little that Deb could not fix. In fact, if something needed repairing, chances were she had just what she needed in her car—including her trusty Super Glue and a few wrenches. That was simply Deb.
On November 17, 1990, Deb married her beloved husband, Marvin “Pete” Nielsen. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Deb was a devoted wife and loving companion, and the bond they shared was truly special.
One of Deb’s greatest joys was her family. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Grandmaw,” and she took tremendous pride in each and every one of them. She loved them with all her heart and cherished the time she spent with them. The love, wisdom, and memories she gave them will remain in their hearts for generations to come.
Deb will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her willingness to help others, her ability to fix just about anything, and, most of all, the unconditional love she had for her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud Grandmaw, and a dear friend to many.
Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, but the memories she created and the love she shared will never be forgotten.
Deb will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Those left to cherish Deb’s memory include her husband of 35 years, Marvin “Pete” Nielsen of Pontotoc; three daughters, Barbara Todd (Gabe) of Pontotoc, Fran Robinson of Pontotoc, and Carrie Bell (Jerry) of Pontotoc; one sister, Ollie Cobb (Bobby) of Pontotoc; one brother, Niel Adair (Betty) of Illinois; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Laura Walls, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eddie and Gary Adair.
Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share your memories and condolences with the Nielsen family.
