Huntsville Man Dies After Vehicle Leaves Roadway

HUNTSVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident has sent one person to hospital and taken the life of a second person:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, has claimed the life of a Huntsville man.

Marcus L. Rice, 41, was fatally injured when the 2011 Jeep Cherokee that he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Rice was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Britney C. Sloan, 40, of Lacey’s Spring, who was a passenger in the Jeep, was not using a seat belt at the time of crash, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Prior to the crash, Rice was attempting to elude officers with the Huntsville Police Department.

The crash occurred on Blue Spring Road near Pinetree Lane, within the Huntsville city limits, in Madison County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
