A great country gentleman who loved his family, his livestock which included goats, cattle, chickens, deer and hogs, Leon Grady departed his earthly pilgrimage Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his longtime residence in Belden. He was 65 years old. Born April 26, 1961 in Kemper County, Mississippi, he was the son of Len Grady and Ruby Grady. He lived in Lee County since the age of seven. He worked in the furniture industry at Omega Furniture. He was an avid Mississippi State fan, a great cook and griller who often fed family and friends. His reputation for loving the land, all God’s creation and hunting and fishing were legendary. He raised a big garden every year and loved riding his 4-wheeler and tractors about his land. A “shade tree” mechanic, carpenter, welder, flooring installer and fencer, Leon was beloved by his family and many friends. He attended Hopewell MB Church in Belden.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Hopewell MB Church with Bro. Charles Glenn, his pastor, officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 PM to 7 M at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Burial will take place at Hopewell Cemetery. Leon is survived by his daughters Dedrick Grady and Latasha Foster (Cagney), and son, Quantavious Sykes; grandchildren, Taimayia Woods (O’Neal), Cartavious Bradley, Brianna Grady, and great-grandchildren, O’Neal Woods, Jr., Nygil Owens, and Nikolas Owens; his brother Larry Grady (Diane) and step-brother John Johnson;and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother Ethel Ree Grady, who raised him, and his father, Len Grady.
