Betty Green Carr, age 91, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2026, after a brief illness.
She was born March 9, 1935, in Athens, Alabama, the daughter of the late Homer Green and Esther Pepper Green.
Betty is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law; Marty Carr; Shane Carr and his wife, Kari; Tim Carr and wife, Trish. She will also be lovingly remembered by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
For over 40 years, Betty and husband Tommy were loving partners in their own automotive business in North Alabama and gained the respect of the communities in which they served. While Tommy ran the shop, Betty was hard at work with the paper tape adding machine making the books balance every month. The weekends were opportunities at the racetracks where Tommy and Betty loved racing with their friends and promoting their business.
Betty leaves behind special friends Gene and Tonya Shepherd and their family in Ohio who spent the last 25 years with Betty as a close-knit family in Cincinnati with many happy memories.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Tommy Carr, and beloved son Danny Franklin Carr.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, three brothers and their spouses, all of Athens, Alabama; Marie Nave and her husband, Cecil; Buddy Greene and his wife, Merle; Milton Green and his wife, Modean; Bill Greene and his wife, Jane.
Services will be Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Bobby Pepper and Rex Greene officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, at noon until service begins in the chapel at 2 p.m., Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama.
