Robert Campbell Profile PhotoRobert Campbell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at his son’s home in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was born on March 31, 1944, in Brownsville, Tennessee, and spent the fullness of his 82 years enriching the lives of those around him.

Robert’s journey was rooted firmly in the communities of Hardeman County, where he spent nearly his entire life, save for brief periods in Haywood and Shelby Counties. Known for his steadfast character and tireless work ethic, Robert was the proud owner of Campbell Cleaner’s for many years, and also was in insurance sales before retiring in 2016. Through both ventures, Robert built countless friendships, earning trust through dedication, honesty, and a genuine concern for others.

A man of true service, Robert was passionate about civic involvement. He served as president of both the Lions Club and the Rotary Club, guiding these organizations with integrity and vision. His impact extended far beyond these titles; Robert gave generously to the youth in his community, devoting his time as an active coach and supporter at the local baseball field, nurturing not only talent but also sportsmanship, camaraderie, and confidence in every child he coached in little league.

Faith was a guiding light in Robert’s life. His commitment to the Assembly of God church was unwavering, and he found purpose in his service, both within and beyond the church walls. In every endeavor, whether civic, professional, or spiritual, Robert led by example, inspiring those around him to give their best.

Of all his achievements, Robert was most proud of his family. He loved deeply and provided unfailingly for his loved ones. He is dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Robert Campbell, Jr. and Carolyn; and by his two sisters, Juanita Gammel and Lille Bell Kee.

Robert’s spirit and legacy live on in his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy: Justin Campbell (Jessica), Lauren Campbell (Austin Arthur), Johnathan Campbell, Shayne Campbell (Mandy) and Jason Gielgehem, and his great grandchildren, Colton, Callie, Kyler, JaColby, Makynlee, Connor, Chloe, Clara, Addison, and Zane, and 2 great great grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them, taking immense pride in their accomplishments and growth.

Robert’s life was also shaped by cherished relationships he now joins in peace: his wife, whom he married in 1964 and she preceded him in death in 2017, Mary Campbell; his father, Irby Campbell; his mother, Myrtle Lucille Campbell; his son, Tony Campbell; his sisters, Mildred Williams, Margaret Ferell, Louise Martin, and Treva Carlton; and his brothers, Cecil Campbell and Lynnwood Campbell. Their memories formed an indelible part of his heart, and his love for them was lifelong.

Family and friends are invited to honor Robert’s life during a visitation on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Bolivar, located at 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, TN 38008. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment will take place at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery, 401 Orange St., Bolivar, TN 38008..

Robert Campbell’s legacy endures through the countless lives he uplifted, the love he so selflessly gave, and the enduring values he embodied. He will be remembered with deep respect, admiration, and profound gratitude by all who were privileged to know him.  Memorials in his name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
