Alfred Quendon Freeman, age 85, born in Russellville, Alabama lived in Athens, Alabama passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at his daughter’s residence in Elkmont Alabama, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1940, to Alvis and Lennie Freeman. He had a deep love for gospel music and especially enjoyed listening to and singing along with The Gaithers, The Cathedrals, and Vestal Goodman. Alfred learned to sing bass by the instructions of George Younce, and gospel music remained a special part of his life throughout the years. He loved Alabama football. Alfred had a warm, caring, and loving personality that could light up any room. He loved his family dearly and leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Alfred will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Akins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at K.P. Cemetery. Alfred is survived by his daughters, Alishia Freeman and Elaine Aucion; sons, Andrew Freeman, Alan Freeman, Malcom Freeman, and Rick Hawkins; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Freeman; daughters, Susan Freeman Broadway, Angela Renee Walden, and Cindy Freeman; sons, Michael Freeman and Dewayne Freeman; his parents, Alvis and Lennie Freeman; and his siblings.
