Henry Thomas Moore, 92, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 17, at the Cloverdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Scottsboro, AL, where he was under Hospice Respite care.

Born in South Alabama, Thomas grew up in and around the Prattville area. He raised a family of four children there, while running his own HVAC business, until he moved to North Alabama after the death of his first wife. He met and married Doris Cooper Moore and they had just celebrated their 33rd anniversary. He went on to work for a total of over 58 years as the owner and operator of Moore’s Heating and Cooling.

Thomas served in the Army from 1951-1954 and fought in the Korean War.

In May, Thomas suffered a stroke rendering him bedridden and without the ability to talk or walk. His wife, Doris, was his primary caregiver as his health continued to decline. Under Hospice Care, he was taken to Cloverdale for a 5-day stay through respite care, where he passed on the night before he was to return home.

In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed watching football and was an avid Alabama Fan. He was a long-time member of the Grant Church of Christ in Grant, AL.

In addition to his wife Thomas is also survived by his children, Jerry Moore (Teresa), Danny Moore (Evette), Larry Moore (Shannon), and Sandra Messick (Mark) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Daniel Wrenn officiating. Pallbearers: Charles Anderton, Alex Blanloeil, Anthony Cooper, Randy Darling, Barry Kirkland, and Patrick Wilder. Additionally, all grandsons are honorary pallbearers.

Interment will be in Prattville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Thomas Moore to the Grant Church of Christ.
