  James Edwin McDuffie Profile PhotoJames Edwin McDuffie — He was a native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Huntsville, AL, born October 15,1942, passed away at the age of 83 in Huntsville, AL, on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was an automobile mechanic for most of his life and loved working on vehicles and restored countless automobiles over the years. He loved “Jesus” and was a faithful member of Gospel Lighthouse Holiness Church while in Mobile, AL and then Victory Holiness Church in Toney, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Julia M. McDuffie; his wife, Elizabeth Ann “Midge” McDuffie; his grandson, Timothy Hiram McDuffie; and his sister, Linda K. Crutchfield.

Survivors include son, Jonathan (Patricia Thigpen) McDuffie of Lexington, Alabama; daughter, Sharon (James) Griffis of Huntsville, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Jonathan (Ronette) McDuffie II of Elkmont, Alabama; Karen (Taylor) Petersen of Ardmore, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Bridgman; Megan (Nick) Holcomb; Thomas Jon Petersen; and three great-great-grandchildren, Clayton DelGrande; Chance DelGrande; Addi Holcomb; Two sisters, Norma Pierce of Tanner Williams, Alabama; Voncille (Ted) Abston of Gilbertown, Alabama; and one brother, Ronnie (Bonnie) McDuffie of Denham Springs, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 20, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Family will meet at 5:00pm, at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory, 16 Hughes Rd, Madison, AL.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday August 22, 2026 at 2:00pm, with visitation from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Gospel Lighthouse Holiness Church, 7731 Old Shell Rd, Mobile, AL, with Rev. Rodney Turner & Rev. Michael Groves officiating.

Burial will immediately follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens, 626 Pierce Rd, Mobile, AL.
