Julie Ann Brooks, 69, of New Hope, passed away Sunday at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Julie was born on August 15, 1957, to Betty J. and Oscar E. Horn. She grew up alongside her brothers, Jim Horn and Tom Horn. On June 7, 2003, Julie married Richard Brooks, with whom she shared many wonderful years of love and companionship.
Julie, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished MawMaw, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
For 25 years, she shared a beautiful marriage filled with love, laughter, memories, and unwavering devotion. She was a proud mother of three children, but her greatest joy in life was being a MawMaw to her grandchildren. She loved her grandkids more than anything in this world and took great pride in spoiling them rotten. Whether it was a special treat, a little surprise, walking them to the bus or simply spending time together, she treasured every moment with them and created memories they will carry with them forever.
Her heart was also filled with love for her beloved dogs-Hank, Tank, Bailey, and Blondie-who were truly part of her family. She found happiness in the simple and special things that made life uniquely hers. She adored her miniature horses, collected whimsical gnomes and highland cows, and loved the magic of Disney cruises. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and coloring, turning creativity into beautiful keepsakes and cherished memories.
She was a woman who loved deeply, gave generously, and found joy in the people and things closest to her heart. Her laughter, kindness, stubborn determination, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Above all, she will be remembered as a wife who loved her husband, a mother who loved her children, the sister that loved her brothers, the aunt who always adored her nieces and nephews and a MawMaw whose grandchildren were her whole world.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue through the memories she created, the traditions she cherished, and the lives she touched.
Though she may no longer be here to spoil her grandkids, her love will forever be one of their greatest gifts.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Wife, Mother, and MawMaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jewell Sturdivant and Oscar Elliott Horn; brother, Jim Horn; sister-in-law, Linda Horn; and son, Allen Brooks.
Surviving are her children, Betheny (Dave) Hurt, Amanda Brooks, and Jessica Johnson; grandchildren, Jamie Hurt, Abbygayle Hurt, Braxton Hurt, and Lauren Hurt; husband, Richard Brooks; brother, Tom Horn; sister, Kristl Bowles; nephews, Jimmy Horn, Colt Lincoln, Nathan Ing (Kelly), Chris Sides, and Elmer Sides; Nieces, Tammy Horn, Jamie Horn, Melissa Horn, Nikki Davis, Chelsea Henson (Allison); and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home.
