James Samuel (Jimmy) Dodson Sr. of Ford City, AL. passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2026. Jimmy was 92 years old.
Jimmy was proceeded in death by his parents Willis B. and Daisy A. Dodson and his wife Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Dodson. He was also proceeded in death by his son James Samuel Dodson Jr. (Sammy). Survivors include Daughter, Lisa Dodson Teal (husband Butch) of Welaka, FL; granddaughter, Brooke Teal of Atlanta, GA; Grandsons, Austin Dodson (wife Amy and their children Emmett and Nora), Charlie Dodson, and Sammy’s wife, Alison H. Dodson.
After graduating in 1951 from Sheffield high school Jimmy attended Florence State Teacher College (now UNA). After college, Jimmy worked with his parents and eventually took over Dodson Grocery, operated Dodson Worm Ranch and Dodson‘s Spur Station in Ford City, AL. He retired to spend the rest of his life at his home of 67 years in Lime Kiln Hollow on Wilson Lake.
Jimmy loved his two children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and loved watching them all grow up to be the people they are today.
There will be a family graveside service at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
