Anna Marie Scofield Mitchell won her fight against cryoglobulinemia on August 3, 2026, when she fell into the arms of her Savior, whole, healed, and finally free. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Bridgeway Baptist Church, 1503 E. Avalon Avenue, Muscle Shoals, Alabama 35661. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Anna’s life and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Born on June 11, 1963, beneath the golden California sunshine in La Puente to James and Kathryn McDaniel Scofield, Anna carried that warm light with her throughout her life. She later grew up in Littleville, Alabama, before making the Shoals her home, where she built a life centered around faith, family, laughter, and love.
Anna had bright blonde hair, sparkling green eyes, and a smile that could brighten any room. She had a mischievous sense of humor, loved to tease those she cared about, and always had just enough sass to keep life interesting. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel like old friends.
While she enjoyed the beach, getting lost in a good romance novel, tending to her flowers and plants, and hunting for the perfect shopping bargain, nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world and the greatest joy of her life. Whether she was sharing stories, offering encouragement, or simply enjoying time together, she loved fiercely and without reservation.
Anna is survived by her mother, Kathryn McDaniel Scofield; her sisters, Julie Chambers (Milford), Diane King (Danny) , Carol Cummings (Carl), and Janet Scofield; her brothers, James “Jimmy” Scofield (Teresa) and Curtis Scofield (Shay); her children, Kayla Breanna House (Michael) and Benjamin Taylor Mitchell (Amber); her beloved grandchildren, Charles Bennett House, Isaac Sebastian Mitchell, Benjamin Atlas Mitchell, and Emmaline Marie House; her step-grandchildren, Ava House and Keith Baugh; and the father of her children, Russell Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jimbo” Scofield.
Though her earthly journey has ended, the warmth she carried, the love she gave so freely, and the light she brought into the lives of others will continue to shine through the family and friends who were blessed to know her.
No one walks a journey like this alone. Our family is forever grateful to the physicians, nurses, and staff of University of South Alabama Hospital, the compassionate teams at Fresenius Kidney Care in Decatur and Mobile, Hospice of North Alabama, and the many friends and family members who became Anna’s village. Your kindness, prayers, meals, visits, hugs, and countless acts of service carried us through the most difficult season of our lives. We will never forget you.
