Patricia (Patsy) Weaver, 78, of Collinsville, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hospitality, and love for family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Harvest Center Church of God of Prophecy in Collinsville, AL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Baxter Congregational Church in Baxter, Iowa from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Her memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Benjamin Spera officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Patsy was born on March 27, 1948, in Perry, Iowa, to Howard and Benola (Stopkotte) Swanson. She spent her childhood in Tama before moving to Johnston, where she graduated from Johnston High School with the Class of 1966. After high school, she attended Marshalltown Community College before beginning a rewarding career with the United States Postal Service.
In 1986, Patsy moved her family to Wisconsin, embracing a new chapter in life. Following her retirement from the Postal Service in the early 1990s, she fulfilled a dream by purchasing LacSeul Evergreen Lodge in Ontario, Canada. Welcoming guests from near and far, Patsy found great joy in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere where everyone felt like family. Her genuine hospitality, generous spirit, and friendly smile made every visitor feel right at home and left lasting memories for all who crossed her path.
On August 8, 2018, Patsy married the love of her life, Jack Weaver. Together they made their home in Collinsville, Alabama, where they enjoyed building a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished moments together.
Patsy was a devoted member of Harvest Center of Collinsville Church, where she faithfully served on the Women’s Fellowship Committee. She was also an active member of the local garden club and always eager to contribute to her community and share her many talents.
Family was the heart of Patsy’s life. She treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved, whether celebrating holidays, sharing a home-cooked meal, or simply enjoying one another’s company. She had a passion for gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Annual trips to Mexico brought her immense joy, but no destination compared to the happiness she found surrounded by her family and friends. Her vibrant personality, welcoming heart, and contagious enthusiasm for life touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Patsy stories will be told for years to come.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Jack Weaver; her daughter, Bunny (Mike) Churchill; her stepchildren, Elizabeth (Dane) Hyatt and Ben (Candace) Weaver; her grandchildren, Oliver Dayton and Andrew (Brooke Smothers) Dayton; her step-grandchildren, Greysen Robinson, Bailey Womack, Carter Womack, Riley Weaver, and Lincoln Weaver; Susan (Eric) Tjaden and her children, Isabelle and Axel Jett; her siblings, Daniel Swanson, Andrew (Mary) Swanson, and Mary Beth (Steve) Burgett; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless dear friends.
Patsy was welcomed into eternal peace by her parents and her beloved niece, Sarah Burgett.
In keeping with Patsy’s joyful spirit and colorful personality, the family kindly requests that those attending her memorial service wear bright, colorful attire as a celebration of her beautiful life.
For those traveling from out of town, rooms have been reserved under Patsy’s name at the Best Western Holiday Manor in Newton.
