In Loving Memory of Mary Nell Hester
With hearts filled with both sorrow and the hope of God’s promises, we announce the passing of Mary Nell Hester, Sumiton, Al who peacefully entered her eternal home on August 1, 2026, at the age of 79. Surrounded by the love of her family, Mary left this earthly life knowing she was deeply loved, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Mary lived a life that reflected love, kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. She had a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel welcomed and valued. Her life was a beautiful example of selfless love, always placing the needs of others before her own and offering encouragement, wisdom, and grace to all who knew her.
Her greatest blessing was her family. As a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary found joy in caring for those she loved. Whether gathered around the family table, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, she created memories that will forever be treasured. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, unconditional love, resilience, forgiveness, and the importance of trusting God through every season of life.
Mary is lovingly survived by her sons, Scot (Jeana) Alexander and Todd (Melanie) Alexander; her grandchildren, Micah Alexander, Peyton Alexander, Samuel Cranford, Asher Parker, and Lensi (Justin) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Ezma and Taytum Cranford, Kavari Monroe, Braylun and Sawyer Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Hunter Alexander; her father, James Hood; her mother, Oma Hood; her stepmother, Margaret Hood; her sister, Billie Jones; her brother-in-law, Edwin Jones; and her brother, Jimmy Hood. We rejoice in the hope that she has been reunited with those who have gone before her in faith and has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that death is not the end for those who belong to Christ. Mary’s love, faith, and gentle spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family for generations to come. Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort in God’s promise that one day we will be reunited, where there will be no more pain, sorrow, or tears.
The family will hold a private service at a later date as they celebrate a life beautifully lived and a faith that never wavered.
