Betty Gail Clemmons Gist, age 81, a lifelong resident of Green Hill, Alabama, passed from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026. Born on March 7, 1945, Betty was the daughter of Walter James Clemmons, Sr. and Geneva Fowler Clemmons. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Gist Jones, and son-in-law, Lloyd Edward Jones III; her beloved grandchildren, who knew her affectionately as “Granny,” Lloyd “Edward” Jones IV, Katherine Elizabeth Jones, Hugh William Jones, and Walter “Walt” Andrew Jones; and Amy’s father, Larry Allen Gist. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Larry Cordell Clemmons, Nancy Ann Clemmons Brown, and Walter James “Jimmy” Clemmons, Jr. The memory of Betty Gail, as she was known to her many friends and family members, will live on through all whose lives she touched. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, hearty laugh, and sound wisdom. Betty dearly loved her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, and she demonstrated that love through her selfless devotion to enriching their lives in every way possible. Betty enjoyed family gatherings, friendly conversation, and sharing a good laugh. She treasured her nearly 80-year friendship with Brenda Roberson Chandler and deeply valued the many loyal friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She especially looked forward to the twice-yearly gatherings with her Rogers High School classmates. An active member of Killen First Baptist Church, Betty found great joy in her faith and church family. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Green Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Visitation will take place in the funeral home chapel between noon and 2:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at 2 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastors Adam Brewer and Greg Woodard. Pallbearers will be Eric Clemmons, Jeff Brown, Jeff Gray, Jeff Wright, Carl Fowler, and Larry Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Frank Fowler, Ronald Haygood, and the Rogers High School Class of 1963. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Summit at Mitchell-Hollingsworth for their kind and attentive care.
