Logo IconFrances Louise Payton was born August 17, 1946 in Connelsville, PA to the late William Stoots and Evelyn Marvicson. She was united in marriage to Buddy Richards and the two of them were blessed with five children, Forrest, Donna, Tim, Angie and Billy. On August 15, 1992 she was united in marriage to Edmund Payton and gained a daughter, Jenny. Mr. Payton preceded her in death on March 23, 2010. She was an artistic person who took great pride in painting yard art. However, her painting talents stretched beyond yard art as she also enjoyed painting ceramics. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, often making dresses. Mrs. Frances had a green thumb and loved spending time working in her flower gardens. She and her husband Ed faithfully attended the Cornerstone Church of Collinwood. Mrs. Payton departed this life for her eternal reward on Friday, July 31, 2026 in Waynesboro, TN at the age 79 years, 11 months, and 14 days.

Those left to cherish her memory include her six children, Forrest Richards, Donna McNabb and husband Rick, Tim Richards and wife Patty all of Abilene, TX; Angie Burkes and husband Shain of Baird, TX; Billy Richards of Florence, AL; Jenny Bigley and husband David of Tool, TX; her siblings, Linda Baumberger, Sandy Smith, Jan Brown all of Ohio; Bill Stoots and wife Becky of Abilene, TX; Bob Stoots, Jim Stoots and wife Brenda, Sam Marvicson all of Ohio; She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chris Richards, Kyle Richards, Chester McDougal, Monique Waggoner, Candace Seale, Jonathon McNabb, Mason Dollgener and five great grandchildren, Mattix McDougal, Lexi McDougal, Nolan Loper, Shawn Zbleski, and Phoebe McNabb as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a daughter of the heart, Nicole Daniels.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step father, Sam Marvicson; first husband, Buddy Richards; her second husband, Edmund Payton; and a brother, Richard Stoots.

Visitation with the Payton family will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 10:00 until service time at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Church of Collinwood

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Cornerstone Church of Collinwood with Daniel Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Keeton Cemetery in Waynesboro on Friday, August 7, 2026 @ 2:30 PM
