Michael R. “Mike” Hall passed away in Amory, MS, on July 26, 2026, after an extended illness. He was born on May 16, 1949, in the Hall family homestead which was built with timber harvested off their farmland in Monroe County, Mississippi. His parents were the late Howard Ray Hall and Nancy Marie Waldrop Hall.
Mike was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church and a lifelong residence of Monroe County, Mississippi. He farmed and managed most of his seventy-seven (77) years on the farm owned by the Hall family since 1921. He retired and moved to Hamilton, MS in 2012 when his family relieved him of his lifelong care of the family farm.
Besides farming, he worked for the Mississippi Forestry Service, USS Agri-Chemical Company, a Smithville parts company and ran a close race for Monroe County Sheriff.
Mike was known for his unique personality and integrity. He remained a fighter to the end.
Mike is survived by his sister, Martha “Marty” Waller (Bruce), Quincy; nephew, Jeremy Waller (Katie), Quincy, MS; and cousins, Doris Bucci, Greenwood Springs, Donald Moreland (Mary), Amory, Richard Moreland (Mary), Wren, MS, Tommy Gann (Beth), Aberdeen, Joe Waldrop (Amy), Carolina Community, and Lora Jean Scott (Danny), Greenwood Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Ray and Nancy Marie Hall; his siter, Julie Hall.
His Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, will be led by Bro. Glen Hughes, Pastor at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and Dr. Lloyd Sweatt, Pastor at Meadowood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery, Amory, MS with Pallbearers being Bruce Waller, Jeremy Waller, Cecil Harris, Monty Sullivan, Joe Waldrop and Sonny Crow. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Gann, Kenny Barrett and CB Peden.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until the service hour at 12:00pm at the funeral home in Amory.
