KD Art Lab Fall 2026

FLORENCE-Florence Arts and Museums is excited to announce its upcoming KD Art Lab Fall 2026 sessions. Designed to spark creativity and teach art skills, these two program blocks offer hands-on classes for children and adults.
Block One:
  • Printmaking with Anna Grinell
    • Thursdays at 4pm
    • August 20 through September 24
    • Children (Grades 6 through 8)
    • Description: Participants will experiment with gelli plates, texture rubbings, relief printing, collagraphs, and monoprints.
  • Photography with Kayla McKinney
    • Tuesdays at 4pm
    • August 18 through September 22
    • Adults (18+)
    • Description: This hands-on class turns intimidating camera settings into creative freedom. Master shutter speed, aperture, and ISO for perfectly exposed shots.
Block Two:
  • Printmaking with Barb Hendricks
    • Thursdays at 3:30pm
    • October 1 to November 5
    • Children (Grades 3 through 5)
    • Description: Participants will explore many types of printmaking from stamps to stencils; from yarn printing to monoprints to linoleum block printing.
  • Poetry and Performance with Shannon Milliman
    • Tuesdays at 5:30pm
    • September 29 to November 3
    • Adults (18+)
    • Description: Participants will be writing in short bursts trying to rid themselves of the critic, encouraging one another and celebrating collective creation.
Registration is $75 per participant and the fee is nonrefundable. Registration will open up on July 27th at www.florencealmuseums.com/kdartlab. The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts is located  at 217 E Tuscaloosa Street, Florence, AL, and is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Southall House, just next to the Art Center office, at 209 E.
