Having recently reached the age of 100 on June 18th, James “Terry” Gipson passed away on Saturday, July 25th, at his home in Huntsville, AL.
After growing up in the Depression without the care of a father, Terry Gipson spent the rest of his life caring for his entire extended family. He served honorably in the Korean War, married Alice “Wilma” Simmons, and worked as a rural postal carrier. He served as a deacon at Hillwood Baptist Church and served on their home visitation team. He finally retired in the 1990s and spent many of his remaining years caring for his wife.
He is survived by his son, Rev. David Gipson; his grandchildren Emily, Micah, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Charlotte Grace; and his great-grandchildren Eisen, Ellie Grace, and Hudson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 1 pm at Berryhill Funeral Home (2305 N Memorial Pkwy, Huntsville, AL 35810), with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens (6810 University Drive NW, Hwy 72 W, Huntsville, AL 35806).
