Jean Gold Crowe, age 92, of Kingsport, TN, died on Friday, July 24, 2026. Jean was born in Marshall County, TN, to the late Annie Mae Hastings and Chesney Clifford Gold. She joined the Methodist Church as a pre-teen and was active in the youth group, serving as an officer at the local and district level and representing them at the National Convocation of Youth. Jean was educated in the public school system and Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN. After graduation she married and taught school in Maury County, TN, before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Jean worked in the office at Appalachian OB/GYN for several years prior to her retirement.
In her adult life she lived in numerous places with her family, always serving the church. She lived the majority of her adult life in Kingsport, TN, and was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church where she served as children’s teacher, on committees, administrative board, and United Methodist Women’s Group. She enjoyed volunteering in her children’s schools and volunteering in the community as an advocate for different organizations, as long as her health allowed. Jean’s favorite pastimes were reading, sketching, and watching sports; her favorite teams being the Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves. She especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s sports activities.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Crowe Hunter; sister Joan Eslick; brothers Parks Gold and Bill Gold; and special niece Emily Eslick Harmon.
She is survived by her sons Jerry (Bes) Crowe and Keith (Cathy) Crowe; grandchildren Madeline, Steven, Matthew, Brittany and Mitchell; step-grandchildren Lindsay and Rob; great-grandchildren Aurora, Reese, Emerson, Eloise, and Lochlan; step great-grandchildren Walker, Clara, and Rhett; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
A Visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg, TN, with funeral service at 3:00 pm with Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating and special music by Dwight Sexton. Burial will follow at Temple Cemetery in the Farmington Community with Joseph Gold, Gaylon Gold, Micajah Gold, Ches Gold, Will Gold, Andrew Gold, James Gold, Steven Hunter, and Matthew Crowe serving as pallbearers. A celebration of life service will be held at Colonial Heights UMC in Kingsport at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the residents and staff of The Blake for their friendship and care over the past 7 years. As well as a special thank you to her caregiver Darcy for her friendship and care over the years.
